We recognise that agriculture and greenhouse horticulture face significant challenges, including changing regulations on pesticide use, labour shortages and more. We believe that by working together with growers, we can make agriculture and horticulture sustainable.
Designing With Purpose
At Studio Catch Horticulture Solutions, we design sustainable innovations for the greenhouses of the future. Founded by TU Delft alumni, we work closely with growers to develop practical solutions that make horticulture more efficient and environmentally friendly. Our first product, Backie, created with cut Cymbidium growers, effectively catches the Ambigolimax valentianus slug without chemical pesticides and marks the first step toward a smarter, more sustainable future for growers.

Our Process: From Ideas to Impact
First, we gain an understanding of your goals, challenges and target demographic. Using research and data-driven insights, we then identify opportunities and define a clear scope for the project.
Building on the foundation established in the first phase, we explore creative ideas and solutions. This phase is about generating innovative concepts that are aligned with your objectives.
We test and refine promising ideas through feedback, prototypes, and validation. This ensures functionality, usability and effectiveness before moving forward.
We then use the results to further develop the design. The chosen concept is shaped into a clear, cohesive, and well-defined solution.
In the final stage, we bring everything together through careful refinement and delivery. Every detail is fine-tuned to ensure a polished result that is ready for launch and aligned with the original vision.
Backie Slug Trap
Backie is a pesticide-free, reusable slug trap designed for effective control in both greenhouses and outdoor cultivation. Developed with growers and Studio Catch HS, it combines simple, efficient design with wheat bran as a natural attractant for long-lasting performance. Backie targets primarily small, young slugs, disrupting the reproductive cycle to reduce infestations, protect crops and ornamental plants, and minimize the need for additional control measures.
